Call to Confession from Leviticus 19

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
“Speak to all the congregation of the people
of Israel and say to them,
You shall be holy,
for I the LORD your God am holy.
“You shall do no injustice in court.
You shall not be partial to the poor
     or defer to the great,
but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.
“You shall not hate your brother in your heart,
but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor,
lest you incur sin because of him.
You shall not take vengeance
or bear a grudge against the sons
     of your own people,
but you shall love your neighbor as yourself:
     I am the LORD.
“When a stranger sojourns with you in your land,
you shall not do him wrong.
You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you
     as the native among you,
and you shall love him as yourself,
for you were strangers in the land of Egypt:
I am the LORD your God.

Kyrie [Grant us Forgiveness] (Kang & Kim)

Gospel & Thanksgiving

Assurance of Pardon: 2 Peter 1:6, 9–10

For it stands in Scripture:
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone,
     a cornerstone chosen and precious,
and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people for his own possession,
that you may proclaim the excellencies of him
who called you out of darkness
     into his marvelous light.
Once we were not a people,
      but now we are God's people;
once we had not received mercy,
but now we have received mercy.

Father of Lights (Davis)

Sermon: Changing Faces, Changeless Mission: The Gospel to All People

"Essentials for Effective Mission" (Dr. John Barcanic)

Sermon Text: Acts 11:19-21

"Now those who were scattered
because of the persecution that arose over Stephen
traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch,
speaking the word to no one except Jews.
But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene,
who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists also,
preaching the Lord Jesus.
And the hand of the Lord was with them,
and a great number who believed turned to the Lord."
