Confession

Scripture Reading: Psalm 130:1-3

"Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord!
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive to the voice
of my pleas for mercy!
If You, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?"

Prayer:

Our Great God and King,
These words of the Psalmist remind us
That it is only by Your great kindness
 That you grant us an audience before You;
It is Your kindness that enables our repentance.

So we speak to You, not with great presumption --
As if we had any right to gain Your attention --
But we are bold to approach You,
Only by the merits of the access purchased for us by Jesus.

By Your Holy Spirit, grant us humble and contrite hearts,
As we draw near to You in Jesus Name. Amen.

Gospel & Thanksgiving

Scripture Reading: Psalm 130:4-6

"But with You there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And in His Word I hope;
My soul waits for the Lord
More than watchmen for the morning,
More than watchmen for the morning."

Sermon Text: Romans 3:10-18

As it is written:
 “None is righteous, no, not one;
 no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”
 “Their throat is an open grave;
they use their tongues to deceive.”
 “The venom of asps is under their lips.”
 “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
 in their paths are ruin and misery,
 and the way of peace they have not known.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
